Wow.

OK. It’s late in the evening after a long day, so this may be me being impressed with something overly simplistic.

But…this seems like a really neat idea—especially if you’re a cocktail connoisseur.

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you: Whiskey Stones!

I saw these on Daily Candy today, and thought they were too neat not to pass along—especially with the holidays coming. These soapstone cubes are just under an inch cubed and are made in Vermont.

Just pop them in your freezer, then in your drink to enjoy a cocktail or cordial that gets chilled, but never loses an ounce of its punch.

When you’re done, simply rinse them off then stick them back in the freezer to chill again.

Lekker sells a set of 8 stones for just under $16. (Lekker also has a ton of other neat house and kitchen-y type items if you’re on the lookout for unique gifts this holiday season.)

The Hungry Mouse Verdict?

These might just be the perfect stocking stuffer for the whiskey drinker in your life who has everything.

  1. Hehe. Me, too! I could see these working if you have a drink that you really, really don't want to water down. (The dork in my also likes the idea of offering someone real rocks for their drink. Go figure.) :D +Jessie
  2. It's neat, but wouldn't it be cheaper just to fill up an ice cube tray with whiskey, then drop those in? I don't know, just throwing that one out there!
  3. Andy's right, Zena. I think these would be entertaining, Jessica, but honestly, I like real ice in my glass, even as it melts. A friend who is a huge fan of golf and a hater of ice diluting her diet Coke has some refreezable liquid-filled plastic golf balls. She put some in a glass for ice-loving me once; I just found them annoying. All that said, I love seeing interesting holiday [or anytime] gift ideas and gadgets. Thanks!
  4. What an awesome product! These would make perfect stocking stuffers for whisky fans like myself. I admit, I often get a little too tipsy, too fast, due to my tendency to try and drink my bourbon before it becomes diluted with melting ice-cubes. Thanks for turning me on to these:)
  5. I have these, from a trip to Iceland, but the purpose of having a whisky on the rocks is to slowly add water to the whisky, as well as keeping it cool, so they're not that great if Scotch on the Rocks is your drink of choice. On the other hand, if you're drinking rye, bourbon or a cocktail these things are awesome.
