Spooky greetings from beautiful Salem, Massachusetts, a.k.a. Witch City, or the Halloween Capital of the World.

We made it through yet another season, and wanted to share some of our favorite memories with you!

IMG_7853

We started out Halloween week with a ribbon cutting ceremony for Koto, one of our favorite restaurants in Salem.

They have the best sushi and sashimi on the North Shore.

More pics from the event soon. If you’re up our way, definitely stop in for a bite. We love Annie and Leo.

IMG_7586

As always, so many of our neighbors and local businesses decked out their pads.

We even got invited in to a haunted house at this place once the sun started to sink, as we went on our evening walk to check out the party in town.

IMG_7625

It was hard to refuse these two, but we were on a mission to take pictures for you guys, so we reluctantly passed.

IMG_7949

The crowds by day were bananas

There were so many people in town during the day, the city actually had to move street closures up a few hours to accommodate the crowds.

The most recent count we saw put the number of revelers well over 100,000 on Saturday, October 31. The streets were packed as we approached downtown.

Here are some of our fav costumes from Halloween day

Some people spare no expense on their costumes.

We saw some really creative stuff. Here are some of our favs.

There were two really good sets of Ghostbusters wandering around taking pics with peeps.

As well as a handful of fantastic Frankenstein’s monsters.

We even ran into longtime DJ friend, Addam Bombb, over in the Old Burying Point Cemetery.

IMG_7878

IMG_7882

Old Burying Point is the oldest boneyard in Salem, and doesn’t lack for its share of living visitors every October.

A quick visit to Stickwork

We popped by the Stickwork display, an amazing art installation by artist Patrick Dougherty. It was swarming with people.

The street preachers were out in force

This is a very real thing. People come to Salem to protest Halloween.

But don’t worry, you can still get a free hug from Satan

This guy is out every year. He’s the happiest Satan we’ve ever met.

IMG_7793

And as usual, police from many neighboring towns were at the ready, to help keep the peace. You know, just in case.

IMG_8106

Humans aren’t the only ones who dress up

There was a Freddy Kreuger dog. (“He HATES the hat.”)

IMG_7810

This is our friend Luna from Day of the Dog, a great pet shop and groomer down on Pickering Wharf.

Our favorite costume of the day—and night

Hands down, this Maleficent was our favorite costume this Halloween. I wish I had gotten this guy’s name to give him credit, his costume and act were fantastic. (Are you out there? Email me!)
