There’s a joke between The Angry Chef and one of our friend’s boys. It goes something like this: “I’m Batman!” “No, I’M Batman.” Rinse. Repeat.

Late last year, we decided to put one of my newer cake molds to good use: the castle cake pan. (It’s a longer story than this, but I have a great fondness for oddly shaped cake pans.)

Here’s the castle bundt pan, available online from Nordic Ware:

A very special Batman Cake

And here’s what we did with it:

This is a chocolate pudding cake, which is sturdy enough to hold up with the mold and the decorations.

The Angry Chef handmixed the icing to a cool gray (my camera makes it look a little on the blue side here) that would be perfect for the castle’s walls.

We piped thick chocolate frosting around the bottom and the inside to frame it and added one red hot as a light over the castle gate.

Then we topped it off with some flying bat toothpicks leftover from Halloweenand, of course, invited Batman to come and inspect his digs.

  1. Hey Jessie, your cake turned out so well! I have the same mould too but unfortunately when I tried to take the cake out of the mould it broke at the 4 turrets! Do you have any suggestions on how to take the cake out of the mould in one piece? Thanks
